Kneeling for Holy Communion and Receiving on the Tongue Becomes the Norm for Papal Liturgical Ceremonies
In a CNS article Msgr. Marini, master of papal liturgical ceremonies, said:
"kneeling and receiving Communion on the tongue highlights 'the truth of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, helps the devotion of the faithful and introduces the sense of mystery more easily."
I am a convert to the Roman Catholic Church (Easter Vigil 1986) and I have YET to receive Holy Communion kneeling at a communion rail! Yet, as a Protestant (Lutheran) I received kneeling EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. There was more reverence in my former Protestant church than in the New Mass of the RC Church! I just don't get this... It is a VERY SAD FACT and one that truly makes me feel "angry" - holy anger, I guess. There is also no access to an Tridentine Rite Mass within two hours of my locale in any direction! People dress sloppily for Mass, "file up" for Communion looking like they just stumbled out of bed and slept in the clothes they have on, not bothered to even brush their hair! It's simply UNREAL what people do. I grew up with the "Sunday Best" and you go to church EVERY SUNDAY and you worship for AT LEAST ONE HOUR, etc... I am at a loss for many RC parishes today and how they conduct themselves - priests included, for these parishes are in their care...
