The Beauty of Tradition

Credo III - The Monks of Santo Domingo de Silos

Credo in unum Deum, Patrem omnipoténtem, factórem cæli et terræ, visibílium ómnium et invisibílium;

Et in unum Dóminum Jesum Christum, Fílium Dei unigénitum, et ex Patre natum ante ómnia sæcula: Deum de Deo, lumen de lúmine, Deum verum de Deo vero, génitum non factum, consubstantiálem Patri, per quem ómnia facta sunt; qui propter nos hómines et propter nostram salútem descéndit de cælis; et incarnátus est de Spíritu Sancto ex María Vírgine et homo factus est; crucifíxus étiam pro nobis sub Póntio Piláto, passus et sepúltus est; et resurréxit tértia die secúndum Scriptúras; et ascéndit in cælum, sedet ad déxteram Patris; et íterum ventúrus est cum glória judicáre vivos et mórtuos; cujus regni non erit finis;

Et in Spíritum Sanctum, Dóminum et vivificántem: qui ex Patre Filióque procédit; qui cum Patre et Fílio simul adorátur et conglorificátur; qui locútus est per Prophétas;

Et in unam sanctam cathólicam et apostólicam Ecclésiam.

Confíteor unum baptísma in remissiónem peccatorum; et exspecto resurrectionem mortuorum et vitam ventúri sæculi. Amen.

October 2 Feast of The Holy Guardian Angels

October 2
Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels
8th Wedding Anniversary

"May the Angels lead thee into paradise; may the Martyrs receive thee at thy coming, and lead thee into the holy city of Jerusalem.
May the choir of Angels receive thee, and mayest thou have eternal rest with Lazarus, who once was poor."

In Paradisum - Antiphon Catholic Burial Service

"Bless the Lord, all ye His angels: you that are mighty in strength, and execute His word, harkening to the voice of His orders."
Introit (Ps. 102) - Mass of the Feast of the Holy Guardian Angels

"An Angel is assigned to every believer, unless we drive him away through sin. He guards the soul like an army on alert."
- St. Basil the Great

"Make yourself familiar with the angels, and behold them frequently in spirit; for without being seen, they are present with you.
- St. Francis de Sales

"God has given His Angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. In their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone."
- Ps. 90:11-12

Prayer to the Holy Guardian Angels:

My good Angel, Thou comest from heaven; God has sent thee to take care of me. Oh, shelter me under thy wings. Lighten my path, direct my steps. Do not leave me, stay quite near me and defend me against the spirit of evil. But above all come to my help in the last struggle of my life. Deliver my soul so that with thee it may praise, love and contemplate the goodness of God forever and ever.

V: God has given His Angel charge over thee,

R: To keep thee in all thy ways.

O God, Who in Thy providence did vouchsafe to send Thine angels to watch over us, grant to Thy suppliants to be continually defended by their protection and to share their companionship in eternity.

Sept. 25 Begins Novena to St. Theresa of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face

St. Therese of Lisieux (1873-1897)
Virgin, Religious, Doctor of the Church
Feast Day October 3

Begin Novena Tuesday September 25:

St. Therese, The Little Flower,
Please pick me a rose from the heavenly garden
And send it to me with a message of love
Ask God to grant me the favor I thee implore (name petition/thanksgiving)
And tell Him I will love Him each day more and more.

(The above prayer, plus - as St. Therese called them - pray five Pater's, five Ave's, and five Gloria's)

Therese Martin was born in Alencon, France. After her mother's death when Therese was just three years old, her family moved to Lisieux. When she was 15, she told her father of her desire to enter the Carmel of Lisieux, where her two oldest sisters had entered. He agreed, but the local Bishop and Carmelite authorities refused, saying she was too young. On a pilgrimmage to Rome, she begged the Pope to allow her to become a Carmelite despite her age, and he replied that she would enter if it were God's will. Months later, the Bishop granted her permission and she entered Carmel in April of 1888. St. Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face wrote her autobiography, The Story of a Soul, out of obedience; through it she continues to teach others her "little way" of spiritual childhood. She wrote: "I am a very little soul, who can only offer very little things to our Lord." St. Therese's autobiography shows such spiritual depth that in 1997 she was made the 33rd Doctor of the Church. St. Therese, who is called the Little Flower, died of tuberculosis at the age of 24. She is a patroness of all foreign missions.

Video in Celebation of the Motu Proprio

July 7, 2007: Pope Benedict XVI, with a mighty stroke of wisdom, charity, and mercy for his Church releases Summorum Pontificum. Just as God instructed St. Francis of Assisi at San Damiano, Our Merciful Father has inspired Pope Benedict to restore His Church 'which had fallen into ruin'.
